Master Naturalist Class Forming - April 12


On Thursday, April 12th at 6:00 p.m., the Kanawha Valley Master Naturalists will be holding an orientation session for all interested members of the public to learn more about our program. If you have friends that are interested in joining us, let them know the registration fee is $100. This one-time fee will cover their student manual, a name badge and their certificate and patch at the time of their completion of the certification program.

We will be meeting at the University of Charleston in the Pharmacy Building, room 111.

DIRECTIONS

From I-79 South/I-77 South
Follow I-77 South towards Charleston. Keep left to follow I-64/I-77 east toward Charleston/Beckley. Take the 35th Street Bridge Exit (Exit 98). Turn right at MacCorkle Ave SE/WV-61. The University is approximately one mile on your right.Turn right at the entrance to the University of Charleston. Turn right on Cherokee Ave. Turn left on 25th St. The Pharmacy Building is on your right. The parking lot is ahead of you. Enter the building from the double doors facing the parking lot by the river. Room 111 is to your left as you enter the doors.

From I-64 West
Take the MacCorkle Avenue exit (Exit 95). Merge right onto MacCorkle Avenue SE/WV-61. The University is approximately 3.8 miles on the right. Turn right at the entrance to the University of Charleston. Turn right on Cherokee Ave. Turn left on 25th St. The Pharmacy Building is on your right. The parking lot is ahead of you. Enter the building from the double doors facing the parking lot by the river. Room 111 is to your left as you enter the doors.

From I-64 East

Title IX Training

Colleagues:

As you are aware, any individual that works with (including Research Corp, Mountaineer Temps, Student Workers, and   County Staff) or volunteers with WVU Extension in WVU Sponsored programs, must complete Title IX training.  To help achieve this objective we will be offering an in person and on line Title IX training at WVU Jackson’s Mill on Monday, March 13th from 10am- 12pm.  Additionally, lunch will be provided for all attending.  If you cannot attend in person, you are welcome to participate in the live stream at the same time.  Please use the registration link below for in person and on line attendance.  All attendees must use the link below in order to receive credit for the training.  If you need accommodations the night before at Jackson’s Mill please make these reservations directly by calling 304-269-5100.  Cost for lodging will be on your own.

Anyone, either volunteer or paid employee can attend this training.  If you are attending on line, you will be sent the link for the live stream before the sessions begins. 
Since the training is mandated, you be will be provided a method to verify your attendance and the attendance of those volunteering in your programs.

Additional trainings are planned and I will be sending those dates in a separate email.  If you attended the training at camping in service, or have attended one of the events with the DEI trainers, you do not have to attend again.

Gardening, Can You Dig it - Boyd County Master Gardeners - April 8

The Boyd County Master Gardeners will hold an all day workshop (10 am - 3 pm) on Saturday, April 8.  There will be multiple speakers on a wide range of gardening topics.  Lunch is provided and many vendors will be on site.
The event will be held at the Boyd County Fairgrounds off Exit 185 of I-64.  Head toward Old Rt. 60 and the fairgrounds will be on the left after about 2 miles.
More information will be posted when details are confirmed.

Midway Fairy Garden Workshop



Gritt's Midway Greenhouse is hosting a fairy garden workshop on Saturday, November 19 from 10 am until noon.  The session will be held at 14844 Charleston Rd, Red House, West Virginia 25168
