Events at Monticello

Our recording secretary, Connie Berk, suggests Monticello as a great get-away for gardeners.  The Monticello website has a searchable calendar so items of interest to gardeners in a selected date range can be found.  Since Monticello is only about 4.5 hours from Huntington, it can be a weekend destination.
Connie specifically notes the three events below:

3 Oct Flower Arranging in the Garden at 9:30 AM, $24

17 Oct Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants Open House from 10 AM – 2 PM, free

Master Naturalist Class

Do you know individuals who would like to become students in the Master Naturalist program? We are starting a new group of students and a new round of classes this month. Of course, this will also be an opportunity for current students to take any classes they may have missed. Our orientation meeting to sign up new students will be this Thursday, June 4
, at 6:30 in room 111 of the University of Charleston Pharmacy School building (located on the far eastern end of the UC campus).

If you know people who are interested, please pass this information on to them. If they are interested but unable to attend the orientation meeting, then please send their name(s) and contact information to our new Master Naturalist  coordinator, Becky Linger:

Thanks, and I hope to see you at a Master Naturalist class or activity soon.
